Economics Creative Competition
To celebrate HASS Week 2023, and promote the study of Economics and Business, the Economics Teachers’ Association of Western Australia is running an Economics-themed creative competition. The creations should be based on this year’s theme that relates to the current economic climate:
- The rising cost of living
Any school teaching the Western Australian Humanities and Social Sciences Curriculum, or the ATAR Economics Course, is invited to submit a total of up to three student-created entries.
Students can submit their creative piece in any of the following formats:
- Painting or Drawing
- Video (30 seconds maximum)
- Song (30 seconds maximum)
- Model (must submit at least 3 clear images of the model)
There are four age divisions:
- Years 5 and 6
- Years 7 and 8
- Year 9 and 10
- Year 11 and 12
There is a $200 first prize for the best entry for each division. There are two $50 runner-up prizes for each division. The judges’ decision will be based on:
- demonstrated understanding of Economics concepts
- effective commentary or critique relating to a current economic issue
- effective communication of the current economic issue
- year level of the student(s) who created the creative piece
In the case where the winning entry has been created by a group of students, the $200 will be shared on an equal basis between the group members.
