ETAWA Economics Cartoon Competition

This competition encourages students to explore the economic issue of oil prices through creativity. Students will demonstrate understanding of key economic concepts while connecting them to a real-world issue that affects communities across WA.  This competition is open to Year 7-10.

Year-Level Focus (Optional Guidance)

Students may choose any angle within oil prices and energy markets. Recommended topics, based on the WA Curriculum, are as follows:

Basic supply and demand: why oil prices rise when demand increases or supply falls

Market outcomes and policy impacts: fuel taxes, subsidies, fuel excise, price controls, and environmental regulation
