ETAWA Economics Cartoon Competition
This competition encourages students to explore the economic issue of oil prices through creativity. Students will demonstrate understanding of key economic concepts while connecting them to a real-world issue that affects communities across WA. This competition is open to Year 7-10.
- The Cartoon must be hand-drawn
- Must be A4 or A3 size
- Must be black and white or colour
- Must be entirely student-created
Year-Level Focus (Optional Guidance)
Students may choose any angle within oil prices and energy markets. Recommended topics, based on the WA Curriculum, are as follows:

Rules
- One entry per student
- Must be hand-drawn and student-created
- Submission must include cartoon, 50-word explanation, and declaration
- Teachers may provide guidance but may not draw or write for the student
- Cartoons should be satirical and insightful, but not offensive, derogatory, or disrespectful. Submissions that cross this line will not be considered.
Winners
- One winner and one runner-up will be awarded for each year level
- Winners receive $250, and runners-up receive $100 (direct bank transfer)
- Prizes awarded for creativity, concept clarity, and relevance
- Winning entries may be displayed online, in newsletters, or at ETAWA events
