2025 ETAWA Multiple Choice Question Competition

This year, ETAWA will be hosting a Multi-Choice Question Competition to promote the study of Economics across all year groups.  There will be cash prizes awarded to the winners in each year group, and we're really excited to see which school's students score highest for 2025!

The competition takes places entirely online, over 2 x rapid-fire rounds, designed so that teachers can fit them into their regular lessons without disruption, or students can compete in their lunch break.  Each student may only participate once, and schools can enter as many participants as they'd like.

Qualifying Round - Week 3

Qualifying Round is NOW OPEN!

8am Tuesday 13th May, until 5pm Monday 19th May

Results of the Qualifying Round will be announced here and via email in Week 5 Term 2, 2025.

Anytime during the week of qualifying round, students can click on the links below for the division they're entering, and once they click "Start", they will only have a limited time to get as many correct answers as they can:

The questions will be based on SCSA 7-10 Economics & Business curriculum in the lower years, and ATAR Economics curriculum for the Senior years.  However, there will be a focus on the application of economics concepts, with references to real-world scenarios and current events.

It is important that all participating students are supervised by their teachers while they complete the questions in the Qualifying Round.

Final Round - Week 7

Students who score high enough in their division's qualifying round will be invited to the Final Round in Week 7, Term 2.  All finalists will sit a harder set of multi-choice questions in the same format, trying to get as many correct answers as they can.  However, all finalists across the state will compete remotely in the final round at the exact same time, with live announcements of the winners via video call directly afterward.

Final Round date/time is TBD.

Further details will be emailed out in Week 5 when the finalists are announced.

There is a $200 first place prize for the winner of each division.

There are two $50 runner-up prizes for each division.

There are three age divisions:

Students must participate in the division corresponding to their current year group.  Students may only participate once across all divisions.
