Australia's changing pattern of trade

This year has seen a significant change in Australia's trade pattern - mainly due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global level of of economic activity and in particular the effect of travel restrictions on some of our major service industries. Two sources of information are:

  • a recent Grogonomics article by Greg Jericho 'Australia's services exports have been smashed – and that's not good for jobs' which was published on the Guardian Australia website

  • the upcoming Economics Society of Australia podcast on 'Global Trade and Investment and COVID-19' - 4 November at 9.00am WST (to be posted on their website after the event)

The changing trade patterns will provide a great hook into your teaching in Year 9 E&B and Unit 3 in Year 12 ATAR Economics.
